Welcome to Science Week!

Wowzer! What a fantastic way to kick off science week.

We were treated to an amazing presentation from the wonderful people at Science in a Van. We learnt a lot about the three laws of motion and saw some super interesting experiments.

My favourtite part was when Steve (the chicken) was strapped to the rocket and then was blown into the ceiling. What was yours?

Please check out some more EPIC videos and pictures and leave us a comment!

Thank You Shiloh

On Friday, Shiloh presented her Teach the Teacher. It was FANTASTIC. Shiloh taught us all about her family's culture... Dutch.

There were so many interesting facts in her slide show, she gave us some dutch waffle to try, showed us a tiny portrait her aunt had painted and she even taught us a sentence in dutch.

Wow! Well done Shiloh, it was a wonderful Teach the Teacher. I can't wait to see what comes next.

Patterns are Interesting!

In week 5 we looked at Pascal's Triangle and last week we look at the Fibonacci spiral. We are starting to discover that there are patterns everywhere we looked. Finding patterns is something that anyone can do and we enjoyed it so much!

Here are some pictures from our pattern searching:

Can you find the patterns in these?

Teach the Teacher: Part Two and Three

We have some amazing and passionate students in room 6!

Thank you to all the students who shared their teach the teacher last week and this week. Peyton showed us how to create a lava lamp in a bottle, Nathan showed us how to make a vinegar volcano and Tait shared some awesome information about her passion, gymnastics.

I love watching the students take charge and teach the whole class because they all work so hard to prepare for their lesson. Well done Peyton, Nathan and Tait - you all rock!

Check out our photos and videos!

Who will be next? What will we learn next?

Cross Country

Wow! I knew I had some fantastic runners in my class but I was completely blown away on Thursday at our cross country. Every single person did their absolute best and I am so proud of them all.

Congratulations to: Sophie, Chloe and Grace who made the inter-schools team!

Here are some action shots of the room 6 athletes.

She was absolutely wonderful on stage!

If you would like to come and see the dances from Sunnyhills, just pop on into our whole school assembly next week on the 17th and we promise you will be blown away.

Scooter Skills

This Monday we enjoyed an amazing session with Andy from Auckland Council. He taught us how to ride our scooters safely.

First we learnt how to make an emergency stop.

Second we practiced our skills on four different courses.

Lastly we play a game that helped us with our gliding.

It was soooooo much fun!

Check out how we did below:
