Congratulations to Sophie who worked very hard to learn and then perform a dance at the Dance Festival!
She was absolutely wonderful on stage!
If you would like to come and see the dances from Sunnyhills, just pop on into our whole school assembly next week on the 17th and we promise you will be blown away.

Scooter Skills
This Monday we enjoyed an amazing session with Andy from Auckland Council. He taught us how to ride our scooters safely.
First we learnt how to make an emergency stop.
Second we practiced our skills on four different courses.
Lastly we play a game that helped us with our gliding.
It was soooooo much fun!
Check out how we did below:

Teach the Teacher?
This week was our first week trialing 'Teach the Teacher'. This is where students get the opportunity to present an experiment, slide show, recipe or even a share a cultural tradition. Two lucky students will get the opportunity to present something each Friday for the rest of the term.
Our first student, Chloe, shared with us an enormous amount of information about her passion of cheerleading. It was so interesting learning about the different stunts, roles within a team and seeing video clips of people tumbling! Well done Chloe, you did a fantastic job and a special thanks to her awesome helper Sophie.
We are looking forward to Peyton and Benjamin's presentations next week.
Have a great weekend everyone and stay safe.

Tread Lightly Everyone
This week we were very lucky to have the Tread Lightly Caravan come and visit our school. They provided us with fantastic activities that got us thinking about our environment and what we could do to try and reduce our footprint.
Thank you to our wonderful parent helpers! We would not have had a great time without you.
Please click on the link below to check out some of our photos.

Did you get to see the Tread Lightly Caravan? Did you enjoy it as much as we did?

The End of Term Two!
My oh my, the time has flown by!
We are half way through the year already! To end term two with a bang, we watched our amazing gymnasts/dancers/cheerleaders Chloe and Tait perform a special piece they choreographed together at the whole school assembly. Well Done girls! it was fantastic and we can see that you put a lot of hard work and practice into your moves.
We also had the wonderful Peyton receive a Principals Award for her hard work in reading. She has been extending herself and it is really starting to show. Well Done Peyton! Keep up the hard work.

I hope you all have amazing and safe holidays, see you next term for more fun and lots of learning!

New Zealand's Newest Actors and Actresses
This Monday kicks off arts week at Sunnyhills School and we are loving it!
The year 5's are doing an arts rotation where they will get to experience some dance, drama and creative arts.
For drama we started with a warm up of different walks to portray different people and things (this got us really excited and loud!). Then we played some charades where we needed to act out things like washing the windows while our team tried to guess what we were doing. Finally we listened to some sentence starters and had to create a freeze frame to show what happened in the sentence and then what we thought would happen after (carry on the story).
Here are some pictures of us being amazing:
